Biography: Dr. J. Zink
A world-recognized authority on child
discipline and marriage, and a gifted public speaker, Dr. J. Zink
lectures throughout the world. In 20 years of private clinical practice,
he has served as family therapist to some of the world’s most prominent
families.
His books include Building
Positive Self-Concept in Kids (1981), Motivating
Kids (1983), Ego States (1986),
Dearly Beloved: Secrets of a Successful
Marriage (1988), The Parent Your
Parents Were Not (1990), Face It (co-authored with Ray Anderson
and Charlie Eitel in 1996), and Upbringing:
Raising Emotionally Intelligent Children (1997).
Formally educated by the Jesuits at the
University of Detroit, he earned his doctorate in Neuro-psycholinguistics
in 1973. He completed a year of post-doctoral studies at the University
of Michigan in 1974. An early pioneer in the emerging field of Neuro-Linguistic
Programming, his psychotherapeutic techniques for emotionally traumatized
children have helped thousands of youngsters lead brighter, more
positive lives.
In 1984, Dr. Zink was named Counselor
of the Year by the California Association of Licensed Educational
Psychologists. In 1988, and again in 1995, Dr. Zink was honored
by the Harvard University Business School for his work in family
life development. Recently, he was honored for his contribution
to children and families as the recipient of the 1996 "Heroes of
the Heart" award presented by the Children’s Hospital in Newport
Beach, California.
Dr. Zink has been a consultant to the
Young Presidents’ Organization and the World Presidents’ Organization
since 1984 and remains the highest evaluated speaker ever to address
those organizations.
